ScentXplore is a New York perfume convention first established in 2019. Interestingly, it continued happening throughout the pandemic as a virtual and later a hybrid event. This enabled thousands of fragrance lovers to discover new brands and attend workshops and master classes even during the lockdown.
The 2023 edition, continued this tradition and offered in-person and virtual attendance (with a generous amount of fragrance samples shipped to all registered attendees). On December 1st and 2nd, visitors could meet over 70 brands, some for the first time in the USA. Scent Evolution was there in person and we are happy to share our thoughts and impressions!
One of the strongest presences this year would definitely go to Amouge, an Omani brand that celebrated 40 years of amazing work. They introduced two mindblowing and extremely concentrated extraits - Dia 40 and Jubilation 40 - which we loved! Furthermore, Amouage is now collaborating with Oman's Ministry of Heritage and Tourism on the development of Wadi Dawkah in the Southern Governate of Dhofar. This 5km UNESCO World Heritage site is home to hundreds of frankincense trees (Boswellia Sacra) which have flourished in the region for centuries and represent one of Oman's most precious natural treasures. This is an opportunity to create an engaging tourist and cultural destination, promote the unique treasures of the Dhofar region, protect this unique ecosystem, and advance sustainable growing practices.
Other brands that seemed to generate a lot of interest were Lorenzo Pazzaglia, Toskovat' Perfumes, Azman Parfums 1948, Day Three Fragrances, and Nicheend. After smelling so many fragrances it was hard to keep up with all of the new and interesting brands and fragrance releases. Brands that really caught our attention were:
Kierin NYC - we rarely encounter a brand where we like all of the releases, but Kierin somehow managed to achieve that.
Lorenzo Pazzaglia - brand owner and perfumer definitely has a huge presence, and once you meet him you will understand why these fragrances are so loud, happy and intriguing.
Jouri Parfums - this brand is from Dubai, and we have never heard of it before, but they showed us two of the best fragrances we have smelled at the entire ScentXplore - Jadi and Layal.
Unique'e Luxury - quite expensive, but amazing quality and really good compositions.
Botanicae - really great people, affordable fragrances, and great compositions for people new to niche or looking for an everyday fragrance.
Day Three Fragrances - another brand that produces only winners. All of their fragrances are really great and their prices are affordable.
Overall ScentXplore 2023 was a huge success. We really enjoyed it and we are now looking forward to the next year!
